So, about this Etiainen Soundtrack that was just talked about…

I’ll make it for Smithy, using the music we used, could have used but didn’t, and music that just inspires the movie. So far, I have this on the track list:

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN - The To-Do List and Schedulue for Etiainen

Alright, here’s the breakdown. We have until Thursday to clean up the rest of the movie - cause on Friday, the final rendering and burning will take place. I know everyone is stressing and going mad cause of the stress of “Hell On Earth Week” (as many have coined it), and thus, I have come up with a list on this tumblog, which I’ll monitor and cross off as the stuff is done. Right now, the stuff that has been done over the past few days is:

• The first classroom scene
• The detention scene
• The outside encounter

In other words, the first 90 seconds have been cleaned. Over the next few days, I’ll be in after school cleaning the rest of it up. Anyone is welcome to help out, but I am apprehensive due to the week’s events that anyone but me and Nat will be sane enough to.

MONDAY:

• Finish music on outside encounter
• Start trimming second classroom scene

TUESDAY:

• Clean up bedroom scene, add music
• Start final scene cleanup

WEDNESDAY:

• Add music to final scenes
• Clean up transistions
• Colur corrections - add washed out colour scheme

THURSDAY:

• Final once-over - trim unnecessary sections if over 5mins.
• Add titles and credits in seperate FCE file (for readily distributed copy)
• Buffer day - anything else that needs to be req.
• Export/Buffer to MOV. for CC Copy

FRIDAY:

• Burn bitch burn!!! Burning of readily distributed copies and CC copies (1 for CC, 5 of >5min version for us, complete with creds and titles)

Anything else that needs to be added, let me know, I’ll shuffle some things around.

EDIT: Added in colour corrections, and already have decent shot used for DVD copy for school marking. Will reuse cause it looks half-decent.

You need color correction, you need to choose the screenshot for the i movie edit, also color grading and adding in effect might take lnger than you had planned.

Remember

• Emotion — Does the cut reflect what the editor believes the audience should be feeling at that moment?
• Story — Does the cut advance the story?
• Rhythm — Does the cut occur “at a moment that is rhythmically interesting and ‘right’”
• Eye-trace — Does the cut pay respect to “the location and movement of the audience’s focus of interest within the frame”
• Two-dimensional plane of the screen — Does the cut respect the 180 degree rule?
• Three-dimensional space of action — Is the cut true to the physical/spatial relationships within the diegesis?

PROGRESS REPORT - Overhaul of Etiainen

Yesterday, me and Nat got started on the beatdown of what we’ve got. Cleaned up the first classroom scene, added music (The Squirtle Piano that was never used) to the second encounter (outside). We added some bell noises to lead into the detention scene as well.
Next on the to-do list is to clean up some of the longish sections of the spaz-out scene (i.e. we spend too much time on extras and other trivial matters, plus some clean-up there), and completely overhaul the first encounter from the ground up, as well as perhaps changing the music in that scene (cause it just doesn’t suit at all).
As a quick addendum, we burned Smith’s copy for final submission, with the additions above included. It was not me or Nat’s choice to do this, btw - it was all him asking for a copy. The DVD isn’t perfect, but it stays the hounds for a few days until we clean up the CC copy, and get titling in. 
I won’t be here after school today, so Nat has the list of stuff that needs to be done, and I’ve posted the next stages of the cleanup here. I’m sure someone can  stay back and supervise her, maybe Yas.
There’s the current situation. More updates tomorrow as I get them.

Good Job, remember the 5 min limit, do nt get caught out into the detail only to have delete them later because of time. Work on it a bit more on friday, i might be there with you if i can go to school

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - Final Product of Etiainen

((This is a TL;DR post. If you don’t want to read the jargon, skip down to the summary in bold down the bottom. I know I write too much for my own good, mb. XP))

It has come to my attention, and the attention to everyone else, that we have somewhat of a problem with Etiainen. Everyone has seen the final product that we are expected to submit to Mr Smith (or the CC, as some people are riding on), and are, to put it nicely, slightly miffed and dissapointed.

I’ll put it as bluntly as possible. As a unified decision, the movie sucks. Massively. The movie is just all wrong, the editing is rushed and clumsy, and the only good factors we can see are the final section, and even that has been fucked up. The storyboards have not been followed to any extent whatsoever, and (I can’t speak for Kate, but for everyone else) we are ALL very upset with the final outcome.

I propose that we spend the next week before we need to submit our movies to the CC cleaning up Etiainen and actually making it into a movie we can be proud of, not a sloppy, mediocre production that made us all die inside when we watched through it. I mean this as no offense to Kate or Yasu’s abilities. We need to all come together as a group and make this movie watchable. Because at the moment, there will be some of us submitting this project that are pretty much going to get raped by the CC. Natalie for one.

Kate, if you refuse to touch it, understandable. But note that this is a four to one vote, and we will go through with this with your director’s consent or not. Me and Natalie are quite capable as directors to oversee the fixups, regardless of how prejudiced you are to some of us. Me and Natalie are staying back after school today (Wednesday 10th September, 2009) to begin the overhaul of the movie. Whatever you may think, we are changing the movie for the better.

Again,this is of no offense to you and Yasu’s skills, because you guys are quite capable in your respective skills. This is for those who desperately need to submit a quality piece of work, instead of the dog’s breakfast that has occurred through lack of communication, perseverence, and an overwhelming clampdown on some members of the group (Nat and I in particular).

IN SUMMARY: We are gathering on a regular after-school basis to reedit Etiainen, regardless of director’s opinion. This is a unified decision and WILL go forward, end of discussion. I’ll take credit for this post, cause I know I’m the one who will probably get blasted for it. Nat and I are starting today, and anyone who willingly wants to contribute CONSTRUCTIVELY AND WITHOUT ANY BIAS are welcome to.

Okay,

1) I personally already think the movie is crap, we had a couple of hours to edit it and I hate it. ( so basically you can speak for me)

2) I get what your trying to say and I want to be in with fixing because wth the time yasu had (definatly no offense yas, you are awesome) he couldn’t make a good film. I mean, we had 2 month for me to do the last one, Smith fucked up the timing YET AGAIN

3) I am only prejiduced to you liam, and thats because of you hurting me in the past (i dont care about that). When we do this redo where gonna have to do this properly and put away anything mean about each other and work together (like on the bus last tuesday going to yac ^_^)

4) In blackup back up to yasu’s and i’s skills, MOST of the video had faults and with the time we had we couldn’t reshoot so basicaly IN the movie is all the scenes we have of any value.

5) It WAS good, emphasis on WAS. The reason it looks like shit and is rushed (along with the storyboard thing) is because the finished product was 15 min long (yeah… i know), so the hard task of taking out shit begins.

6) I want in on the redo of this, and since i know my way around final cut better than smith or yas you could probably need my help, start or reworking the storyboards so the movie is shorter.

BTW i have a reallly bad infection and I probably wont be in school till friday or monday -_- ( i fucking hate colds)

FIRST THING - NAME THE F*****ING FILES (i hate those files). This is what made it so hard last time

SECOND - get your ideas down on paper first, you cant work on a blank canvas on this one, trace out your lines, pick your colors, pick your brush ANALAGY OVERLOAD!!!!!!……… get what im saying though.

SHIT…. this is like the most i have written in a couple of days……
